Impulse Technology Rebrands as Xmorphe to Reflect Expanded Vision and Innovation in Prosthetic Solutions

State College, PA – February 16, 2026 — Impulse Technology, a company founded in 2013 by Penn State researchers to commercialize advanced mechanical and energy innovations, has officially rebranded as Xmorphe. The new name reflects the company’s evolution into a forward-thinking leader in prosthetic technology, with a growing product line focused on improving mobility and quality of life for individuals with limb loss.

Originally launched by Dr. Kamrun Nahar and Dr. Aman Haque, Impulse Technology was built on a foundation of cutting-edge academic research. Dr. Nahar, a former faculty member in Engineering Science and Mechanics, and Dr. Haque, a professor of Mechanical Engineering, set out to translate research breakthroughs into real-world applications.

Since 2017, the company has honed its focus on the prosthetics sector, leveraging its expertise in compliant mechanical systems to address critical gaps in mobility and rehabilitation technology. Its flagship product—a passive prosthetic ankle—offers a major advancement in gait dynamics, enabling smoother, more natural movement for users and supporting better long-term outcomes.

The rebrand to Xmorphe signals a new chapter for the company, one that emphasizes product expansion, innovation, and impact. With additional prosthetic components currently in development, Xmorphe aims to deliver high-performance, cost-effective solutions tailored to the needs of both end users and clinical providers.

“This rebrand is more than a name change,” said Dr. Nahar, co-founder of Xmorphe. “It reflects our commitment to designing smarter, more human-centered prosthetic systems—and our vision for what’s next in mobility innovation.” Xmorphe remains headquartered in State College, PA, and continues to collaborate with research institutions, clinicians, and mobility specialists to develop products that meet
real-world needs.
